Apart from being a bit annoying (and my guess is that you'd find Yahoo! wouldn't allow an overlay that size with no close button on their pages), it just feels like a first thought.
Maybe it's just the way it follows your mouse with no inertia or gravity that feels a bit unnatural.
I'd almost rather see a bottle in a banner which challenges you to pick it up, but it's gripped so well that you have to really struggle to free it. That way it wouldn't have to be a rich media placement either.
That takes the cake!
