Bannerblog: Sony Ericsson: Hopper Invasion

I have nothing rationally against this idea. I just don't personally like it, despite actually wanting a Satio phone. It feels a bit too "gimmicky" for me.

It's a brave move to rely on the font to represent the brand (especially as Rockwell and American Typewriter are a popular choice with brands). But, as a SE customer, I recognised who it was immediately.

It feels like they're trying to align themselves more closely with the Sony Bravia brand too (balls, bunnies etc).

That said, it caught my attention when I saw it live, and the Yahoo! flash mob got them some great PR too.
Maybe a bit of variation in the hopper animation would have given the execution a bit more personality.

The agency is Dare Digital in London.

Why did you choose to share a flash (at best Polite) ad? Because it's unbranded? Unbranded ads aren't anything new, and this one sucks.

I chose to share this as I liked the website and then saw the banner afterwards. I also thought it was "interesting" that a big brand like Sony Erricson chose to not add their brand to the banner.

Banners we post on Bannerblog are to generate discussion, ideas or envy and not always all at once.
